In 2018, Eddie Gallagher, a decorated US Navy SEAL was accused of war crimes by his fellow SEALs in operations against the Islamic State. His trial and subsequent acquittal laid bare surprising details about some of America’s most secretive special operators. Philipps covered the trail and interviewed many of the Navy SEALs who accused their superior of some deeply disturbing activity. The trial became yet another political flashpoint of the Trump presidency, and ultimately resulted in the resignation of the Secretary of the Navy.
