Did the January Sixth Committee Deliver, Mathew McConaughey Comes to Washington, and What Do the California Primary Results Tell Us About November?

Episode Summary

On Thursday night, the House January Sixth Committee held its much anticipated televised hearing. There was new information, including accounts of Republican members of Congress allegedly seeking preemptive pardons from President Donald Trump and a report that Trump told staff during the assault that the rioters threatening violence against Vice President Mike Pence “may have the right idea.” Also this week, Matthew McConaughey wowed Washington with his appearances at the White House and on Fox News, raising hopes that Congress might reach some sort of agreement on gun violence in schools. But at week’s end, the Senate left town with no agreement on even a framework for discussion. And Californians are still digesting Tuesday’s primaries, which resulted in a November run-off for the mayor’s office in Los Angeles, and a recall of San Francisco’s district attorney.
